Rebbe Vizhnitz: "do not report to the recruitment centers!"

Unlike the Lithuanian Torah sages – the Vizhnitz Rebbe ordered his followers not to report to the recruitment centers of the IDF. The Rebbe also called on all young Haredim to do so.

The Vizhnitz Rebbe spoke today (Shabbos) at Seuda Shlishit at the Beit Midrash Hall in Kiryat Vizhnitz in Bnei Brak.

Among other things he said: "These days, we are commanded to 'turn away from evil and do good'. 'Turn away from evil': A fire is raging in the form of recruitment of yeshiva students, I heard terrible things about what happens there."


Due to these 'terrible things' on which he did not elaborate, the rabbi said: "I order all the Vizhnitz advocates, and ask all those who are fearful to G-d not to stand there, G-d forbid. If they come to take you with iron chains, tell them the Vizhnitz Rebbe does not allow going into such a place and let them take me to jail."

Later the Rebbe referred to the elections: "The 'do good' is that the elections will be held in four weeks. Everyone, even those who do not belong to Vizhnitz – anyone who is fearful of G-d – should make soldiers for Agudath Yisrael and it is not enough by voting only.


"Every yeshiva students must see what can be done to increase our strength in times like these that we need power, and even yeshiva students who have no voting rights must work and should not avoid it."


Recalling, Council of Torah Sages of Degel HaTorah, convened and ordered to appear in the centers but not to sign the forms.
