Brussels: parents feared - and Jewish school relocated

The administration of the Jewish school 'Maimond' in Brussels decided to transfer the school building to an exchange location in the city center, due to fear of anti-Semitic attacks, and the reluctance of parents to send their children to the Jewish school - surrounded by the Muslim population.

Notice on the expected transition was sent to the children's parents.

The Jewish school jacques wajc Maimond, which was located so far in an area populated by minority groups - Muslims and others - the lower class in the country, characterized by the proliferation of violence, anti-Semitism and crime.

School principal explained this week that the school was going through a difficult economic situation, and debts to the local municipal soared to the sum of eight million dollars, the reason, he says, lies in a steep decline in the registry of children to the school.

"Parents are afraid to send their children to this school which is situated in a bad area, the area of crime and anti-Semitism. Connecticut school shooting in the U.S. only increased the fear. The steep decline in the registry of children did not begin this year, we see it every year, but now we have decided to take action and move the location of the school to a safe place in the city center", concluded the Director.

Ten thousand Jews live in Brussels live, and the city has two other Jewish schools: Jenano and Bet Aviv, located in the Jewish area.
