Kuwaiti newspaper: Israel struck Hezbollah facility with missiles

Israel was behind the explosion that occurred two days ago in Hezbollah arms warehouse in the Tir Harfa village in southern Lebanon. This was reported this morning (Wednesday) in a Kuwaiti newspaper Al Jarida, from what the paper describes as "reliable" sources.

According to the report, in the warehouse which was bombed, were missiles capable of carrying chemical or biological warheads, recently transferred from Syria to Lebanon.

The explosion occurred near the border with Israel. No injuries were reported, but reported that heavy smoke billowed from the warehouse, which various media outlets in Lebanon confirmed as a Hezbollah arms depot. Radio Voice of Lebanon reported according to security sources from Beirut that Hezbollah members blocked the blast area.

Mukhtar of Tir Harfa, however, said that the explosion occurred by the flaring up of an Israeli shell which landed in the Second Lebanon War in the area. He strongly denied the media reports showing that the explosion occurred in a Hezbollah's weapons warehouse.

According to the report in the Kuwaiti newspaper, Hezbollah is in possession of further arsenal near the village of Aley in Mount Lebanon as well as agricultural warehouses converted into missile storages. "Hezbollah uses most advanced technologies and missile ammunition storage and maintenance of confidentiality. This is Iranian technology which is similar to that which Iran makes use of to secure its own warehouses," the report said. According to the sources, Israel has managed to penetrate the electronic security and to blow up missiles and ammunition depots in Iran and Lebanon, including weapons depot blown up in the Bekaa area two months ago.

"During the last period, Israel destroyed advanced weapons against warships manufactured in Iran," the report said. "Israel sees the transfer of missiles from Syria to Hezbollah as a great danger," the newspaper quotes. "It sees the transfer of chemical warheads as a red line that could lead to greater conflict in the region. Israel is closely following every movement of unconventional weapons owbed by the Syrian regime."
