Aggressive marketing of real estate: another 5762 apartments on the market

Ministry and Housing Ministry and Israel's Lands Administration are beating all forecasts again, and announce the marketing of thousands of housing units throughout the country to meet the ambitious targets of the government's residential land market.

Ministry of Housing and the Director announced today (Wednesday) on marketing to build about 5762 units across the country. Out of these 404 housing units in the 'Schneller' compound in Geula neighborhood in Jerusalem, 398 housing units in Beitar Illit, and 102 in Emmanuel. Thus, the preview of the volume of marketing published since Ariel Atias took office of Housing Minister will reach 140 thousand units. Total land which will be marketed in 2012 is expected to reach 38-39 thousand units; an increase of 50% compared to marketing of the land in 2008, the highest figures since 1997 - that is, a record of 15 years.

Following the massive marketing of the last few years there has been an increase in construction starts which reached a surge of 50% in construction starts in 2011 and a peak of a decade. Meanwhile, the Ministry of Construction and Housing repeatedly emphasize the need to increase credit to contractors which is the fuel of the real estate industry - by the Minister of Finance and the Bank of Israel.

Housing Minister Ariel Atias said today: "Today we broke a record of building which we have not seen since the immigration waves of the 90's. The policy which I wheeled to the aggressive marketing of thousands of units each time changed the trend of rising housing prices and caused the beginning of the decline in new housing prices.

"I'm glad we were ambitious in the goals we have set for the government (35,000 units) and overtook them, thanks to efforts made by the dedicated staff of the Ministry and Administration. We are marketing to all sectors throughout the country and providing benefits and grants totaling approximately 100 thousand shekels for buying apartments in the periphery to encourage positive immigration. We are marketing a long-term rental housing and land at a discount of 50% for young couples in places of demand."


The marketing of the Schneller Compound joins another marketing at the place two years ago of 218 units. Thus the total for the apartments built at the housing complex will reach over 600. Holdup of marketing the rest of the apartments at the complex was due to the search for alternative solutions for the Geological Institute located in the complex. An agreement was signed this morning between all parties involved in the transfer of GSI, and therefore a green light was given to market the compound. Auctions will begin within the next week
