Security Explorer of the Yitzhar settlement was injured today (Monday) afternoon by a stone thrown at him from the village of Madama by Arab rioters.
The incident began when a military observation identified an Arab shepherd near the northern defense trail of the settlement. Sector company commander ordered Yitzhar patrollers to reach the scene and keep the shepherd away, whilst he went out on his own to the venue.
When the patroller reached the spot and demanded the shepherd to stay away, the shepherd refused to go, and unleashed the dogs that were with the herd. When the commander came to the point, the Arab shepherd attacked him, and pushed him over several terraces. After many efforts, the company commander with his troops managed to stop the shepherd, and two soldiers led him into the jeep parked on the security path.
At this point, dozens of Arabs from the adjacent village of Madama came out, and threw stones at the company commander, the scout and soldier who were left alone there. The scout was injured by a big stone thrown at his face at very close range. The Commander fired at the attacker's leg, injuring him lightly in order to neutralize him and arrest him, but the thrower was smuggled to his village by his friends. Another soldier was also injured mildly by a stone that struck him.
The emergency forces at the settlement were sprung to the scene. Due to the route located in the steep valley, it was decided by the medical forces to evacuate the injured through the village of Madama instead. Army forces came to the village but did not go inside. Alert forces evacuated the wounded man on a stretcher and carried him by foot, and he was transferred to a military base which crossed the village under a barrage of stones, and transferred the wounded man to an ambulance.
Yitzhar say that "the fatal event today reflects above all, the need to restore sharp and clear deterrence against the Arab enemy."
Ma'an News Agency released the name of the bomber who was fired and fled, Amir Fayez Nasser, 27, from the village of Madama.
Watch: Throwing stones at army jeeps
This morning Palestinians posted a video documenting boys throwing stones at the convoy of jeeps in the village of Nabi Saleh in the southern West Bank.
The IDF said that incidents of stones implications at Jeeps has actually become common, especially after the Palestinian appeal to the UN, riots occur all the time - the security forces face. About this video they said, "This is probably the military forces in finishing operations."
