Baltz Landhardt, a Hungarian member of parliament, was arrested last night (Friday) by the Hungarian authorities, after igniting the Israeli flag during a demonstration held in front of the Hungarian Foreign Ministry in Budapest.

The protesters came to protest against the Israeli operation in Gaza and against Israeli policies against the Palestinians.

Landhardt is an independent lawmaker, a former member of the right Jobik movement and participated in the demonstration. During which, accompanied by clapping, Landhardt lit the flag and burned it completely.

Hungarian police officials said that Landhardt was questioned but released shortly afterwards.

Just a month ago, a member of the Hungarian right-wing Jobik Martin Gongiosi sought of the government in Budapest to create a list of Jews who pose a "national security risk" to the country. Gongiosi claimed at the time that his words are not racist, but pointing to Hungarians who hold dual citizenship.

"I apologize to my friends the Hungarian Jews on the statements that were misunderstood," he wrote on the party website, whose members often argued in the past that Jews used Christian blood to perform religious ceremonies.
