An end to rumors of Hag"r Aharon Leib Steinman supporting the party 'Koach Lehashpia" of Harav Amnon Yitzhak?

This morning (Sunday) a clarification is published in Yated Ne'eman newspaper on behalf of R' Aharon Leib's home, which most emphatically clarifies: "The only list which Moron shlita supports and instructs to work for is the list of United Torah Judaism." It should be noted that R' Aharon Leib debated much before publishing the clarification. That being due to the respect he has for Harav Amnon Yitzhak and his blessed activities in Kiruv.

The Shas movement took a breath of relief, after long days in which they expected such a clarification letter.

Behind the scenes is the end of a saga that took place in recent days between Shas and the house on 5 Chazon Ish Street. It is no secret that in recent years a close relationship formed between Interior Minister Eli Yishai and R'
Aharon Leib Steinman, and he even won a great affection by the house members.

The changes which took part in Shas over the last two months are hard to digest for them. This is the reason that the request and demand to get a clarification, did not come through the regular channels, but through leaks to the media. For example, it was suggested that if Shas will not get its way, it may establish a special headquarters which will absorb those who declare that they will not vote for United Torah Judaism. As a result, there were those who responded in Degel HaTorah, that in that case a headquarters will be founded which will act among Eli Yishai people who search for a new home. Both did not really intend to carry out what they had said, but this is the way things took place.

Last Friday there was a direct appeal from a leader of Shas to the house of R' Aharon Leib. The latter asked nicely that a letter of clarification will be published, and when he realized why there was anger which prevented such a letter – he promised to fix the matter.

Indeed, on Friday afternoon, when Aryeh Deri was interviewed by the media, he said that, G-d forbid, no one had intended to intimidate or to contact voters of Torah Judaism "and they loved peace and truth."

Shortly before Shabbat, R' Aharon Leib decided that indeed, despite the many considerations, the clarification has to come out publicly, as it is published today.
