Airlift: 1500 people will spend Shabbos in Uman

1500 Breslev chassidim from Israel and around the world will come to Uman, Ukraine for Shabbos Chanukah, despite the severe weather that prevails there during this period.
Shabbos Chanukah is one of the three times when the followers of Rabbi Nachman gather at his grave in Uman. Already this morning (Tuesday) many passengers left on flights directly from Israel, Europe and the United States to Ukraine.
Preparations for food and lodging are underway. Even 'Hatzalah Ukraine' are preparing for Shabbos and will operate the clinic on Pushkina Street near the tomb, for the first time. Rescue personnel emphasize that "one must dress with warm clothes sufficient for the weather in Uman, and do not forget to bring medication in cases they are needed."
Several years ago, on Shabbos chanukah a Jew who was ill with asthma died, due to respiratory distress. Inhalation devices will be available to the public at the clinic.
