Tragedy in Jerusalem: A 7 month old infant suffocated today in the afternoon from a plastic bag in his home on Nissenbaum Street in the Givat Shaul neighborhood.
Hatzalah medics who reached the scene carried out CPR – but unfortunately, without success. A doctor and an ICU mobile who reached the scene-were forced to determine his death.
ZAKA team arrived at the scene, in order to take care of the body and prepare for burial.
An initial examination shows that the caregiver did not notice the baby had suffocated, since she thought he had fallen asleep.
Moshe Levi, a Hatzalah medic said: "When I reached the apartment, the neighbors told us that the baby, who was looked after by a neighbor, whilst his parents weren’t home-choked as a result of playing with a plastic bag. We carried out CPR, but unfortunately we were forced to determine his death."
Jerusalem's police initial investigation showed that the caregiver fed the 7 month old baby, and must have forgotten the bay in his bed, and as a result he choked. The caregiver was investigated and released and will be investigated again tomorrow.
Earlier today, in the afternoon, a 7 month old baby was found unconscious in his crib in his home in Bnei Brak. Following CPR he was evacuated by ICUM to the Maayenei Hayeshua hospital-where his death was determined.
