Angry residents of Haifa: Haifa Municipality placed Christmas trees on the public squares of Rothschild Boulevard, and not one menorah.
Deputy Mayor Shai Blumenthal from Mefdal reacted angrily, and contacted Chabad house in order to set up two giant menorahs on the main avenues in the city.
Council member, Aryeh Blithenthal from Agudath Yisrael announced that he will require urgently installing a giant menorah, like the size of the Christmas tree which was placed in two main squares in the city. "I went to the mayor demanding to install a menorah, and I'm waiting for his answer."
Haifa Municipality said in response: "In honor of the event for the holiday of holidays, Haifa Municipality decorated Ben Gurion Boulevard (German colony) with trees and menorahs.
"The avenue, also known as the Champs-a Lisa of Haifa, is bright these days, and cafes and restaurants compete for luxury and festive Christmas decorations."
