Moments of tension: the hidden lists of Yahadut Hatorah

Shortly before the end date of the filing of the lists committee representatives of Yahadut Hatorah showed up in the election room, holding the final list in their hands.

On one side was Rabbi Moshe Shiffman with two options: A union list of Agudah-Degel, and a separate list of Degel. Opposite him stood Rabbi Shaya Paksher, representative of Shlomei Emunim, and he too with a list of a running Agudah separately, in case of emergency, if and when the Shiffman submits his own list separately.

At around 10:00 Shiffman called his boss, MK Moshe Gafni, who received the order he received, and hastened to submit the unified list. Paksher took a deep breath and turned around.

Thus, for the first time in the history of Yahadut Hatorah, they managed to finish filing the list at 10:30 at night, and not as customary to date – at midnight.

A few minutes passed and party representatives of the new Netzach party entered, whilst also submitting their list. Shortly after 11 o'clock at night they completed the procedure, whilst laughing and pointing out that here is another sign that we are a real flag. "

Behind the scenes, throughout the nerve-racking day, pressure was activated at the chamber of Rabbi Yisrael Eichler, the Rebbe of Belze Gabbai, and almost every Belze politician. Destination: Persuasion of Belze to ensure conviction of a rotation at the expense of Eichler in the case of six mandates. But the message was blocked before reaching the Rebbe himself, and was not activated.

While the parties were allegedly engaged in a struggle, the feeling is that behind the scenes everything is closed: one day, if and when, someone will be sent to the home of the Rebbe of Belze with a clear message, and having learned that he is willing to sacrifice for peace - he will understand and agree. In exchange Belze will be given on a silver platter all the demands in various cities, primarily in Bnei Brak, achievements that even four representatives in the Knesset were not able to bring them.

We emphasize that these things have no any confirmation from any official source, advertising for any deal, if any, shall not be before the elections, there's no point to arouse anger and prevent voting from the hurt publics.

First the first time: working haredi representative was assigned by Hagray"l

Behind the scenes there was talk also with representatives of the sector called the working orthodox. Not with representatives of the official "Tov', but with different representatives - unofficial.

By law, any party may file list of 120-seats. Major parties in the past used to grant the status of respect for some people, but in Yahadut Hatorah, apparently, every place in the list is significant.

In recent weeks, a group was formed of working B'nai Torah who sought from Degel HaTorah, to recognize this sector and their rights, so they can be part of the ultra-Orthodox party and support it.

As part of the desire to publicly acknowledge this and give them a sense of belonging, Degel HaTorah Chairman MK Rabbi Moshe Gafni, ordered to give a representation to this sector for the Knesset list. Eventually, a representative was assigned for the group, Attorney Moshe Morgenstern, at the 83rd place on the joint list.

"To our delight the political system understands the need to bring the community of Torah toilers closer, because this sector is an integral part of the haredi public at large."
