Haifa: married eight times to get grants

Police are investigating a suspicion in which at least eight soldier's forged marriage certificates of the Chief Rabbinate in Haifa including "official" signatures of one of the rabbis, to win a grant. They were married fictitiously to a young woman in her 20's.

According to the investigation, reported tonight on Channel 2, one of the soldiers forged documents of the Haifa Rabbinate and the signature of one of the rabbis who authorized that the soldiers were married to the young woman according to Jewish law. They later connected to the young woman who allegedly, agreed to marry each one of them.

They transferred their marriage certificates to the bank - and received the grant funds in an amount ranging from 20 thousand to 30 thousand shekels. At one point, a teller at the branch of the Leumi Bank in Haifa suspected and found that five of the soldiers were married, apparently, to the same woman.

Immediately after that he contacted the police, who opened an investigation of the case.

Commander of the fraud squad in the north, Yehuda Erez said that the young woman admitted to the offenses during the investigation. It turns out that the longer the soldier whom she married was serving or fighting - the greater the amount of the grant.

Police estimated that she took to her pocket 2000 shekels on each case of marriage and now is expected to be evicted a vigorous prosecution.
