"Covered in Halacha"• Students eulogize

The Torah world was wrapped last night in great mourning, upon hearing the news of the passing of Rabbi Amram Yitzchak Zacks zt"l, Rosh Yeshiva of Slabodka who taught Torah to thousands of students for over fifty years.

Hours after the burial and the funeral ended – which was attended under heavy rain by thousands who cherish his memory, his disciples and Roshei Yeshiva and Gedolei Yisrael, we asked to speak with several students and associates who revealed and uncovered the image of the revered Rosh Yeshiva.

One of his students told B'Chadrei Charedim: "It's hard to talk about the Rosh Yeshiva in the past tense. He was always constant and diligent in his learning, superlative in his humility and modesty, one of the first students in the yeshiva after it was founded by his grandfather Hagaon Rabbi Izaak Sher zt"l, and later on as Ra"m and Rosh Yeshiva."

"His general lessons were known to all, and his management and leadership of the Slabodka Yeshiva, he was involved in every detail and interest, and although the burden of holding the Yeshiva was imposed on him, beside him was always standing a great woman-his wife, mother of the Yeshiva. He was a symbol of diligence in Torah, without stopping literally all day and night, as he often did not even budge from the Gemara for hours and hours.

"A special chapter in his life was his modesty, he despised and fled from advertising and honor, he did not allow anyone to respect him at any event held in the Yeshiva or elsewhere. He was covered in halacha, and his middos were the symbol of indulgence of giving in and his Bein Adam L'Chaveiro."
