ZAKA emergency center received a report this afternoon from an ultra-Orthodox resident of Jerusalem, who said he went on a trip with three friends to the Ashalim River in the Judean Desert, near Masada.

After nightfall came, and the travelers had not yet reached the end of the path, the group split in two - but they lost their way, without finding an exit point. Note that currently there have warnings against floods in the south.

ZAKA emergency center contacted the rescue unit in Arad, who went out to rescue the hikers.

In a conversation with B'Chadrei Charedim, Chaim Weingarten, head of operations in ZAKA, requests the public hikers to stick to the safety instructions. "Do not walk in areas and at times prone to floods. Take a map and a means of identification. It is forbidden to enter the long tracks in the winter after 8:00 am, and in case of an emergency stay together and call 1220."

Koby Chavkin, Arad Rescue Unit spokesman said that volunteers are already in the area and in contact with one of the groups. The volunteers have not found the hikers, but the situation of the members of the group we have contact with, is in good condition.

About an hour and a half later, Chavkin updated that the Aravah rescue unit located 2 hikers without appropriate clothing and they are already in the unit vehicle. Two other hikers were located about half an hour later, frozen but happy.
