Tragedy in Jerusalem: Rabbi Menachem Taizi, a Chabad chassid, aged 34, was found dead this afternoon near the Dung Gate in Jerusalem's Jewish Quarter.

Hatzalah medics and MDA team arrived at the scene, located - following a long search - a man who apparently fell a few hours earlier, and his body was found lying on the rocks outside the walls, with no pulse and not breathing. A doctor who arrived pronounced him dead. ZAKA team Jerusalem arrived on the scene and made sure to treat the deceased with dignity.

The deceased, who lived in recent years on a mission in Eilat, made a living as an illustrator and painter, and many benefited from his works which were published in 'Religious Network Press' newspapers. He also published a selection of comic books.

He is the son of educator Rabbi Shmuel Taizi, and brother in law of Avi Rosen, program director of Radio Kol Chai.

He left after him, his wife, a kindergarten teacher at the Chabad institutions in Eilat, and 6 orphans.

His funeral will leave this evening at 23:00 from the Shamgar funeral home to Mount of Olives. Shivah is at Mevo Modiin.
