An attempted attack against Shabak (ISA) in Samaria: security forces are checking an incident in which a Palestinian terrorist armed with an ax tried to attack this morning (Monday) ISA members on Highway 57, near the settlement of Shavei Shomron. The terrorist was shot dead. Two were injured slightly, and slightly to medium.
An initial investigation indicates that at approximately 10:00am, as part of the ISA operations in Deir Sharaf (between Shavei Shomron and Einav), a Palestinian vehicle veered off course and crashed head-on forcefully into a military jeep in which they were traveling. Due to the deliberate crash, the jeep capsized and all occupants sustained minor injuries.
The terrorist, a resident of a village in the Tulkarem area, who was armed with an ax, went up to the passengers and swung it at them, shouting "Allah Hu Akbar", and wounded two of the passengers of the jeep. In response, one of the interrogators shot and killed him.
The wounded were treated at the scene by military medical officials, and were evacuated by ambulances of Magen David Adom. Field tests continue by the security forces.
The Shin Bet said that preliminary findings indicate a terrorist attack. The incident is investigated by the Israeli police, the Shabak and the IDF.
Since Operation Pillar of Cloud, there is an increase in hostile terrorist events in Judea and Samaria, expressed in throwing stones, disturbances and shooting attacks.
Only recently there was a terrorist attack against a bus in Gush Etzion. In addition, there is a continued wave of arrests in the West Bank, with its peak recorded in the arrest of more than 100 terrorists some executives from different organizations, in cooperation with ISA forces and the Israel Police.
