Police and media accused Naama Itzkowitz, the girl from Netanya who had been considered missing since Friday night until after Shabbos, this morning (Sunday) with lack of liability. Recalling, Naama left her home in Netanya by car toward her fiance's house in Mazkeret Batya – but did not reach her destination.
The media chose to blame Itzkovich for causing 'public mishap', although she chose to keep Shabbos. For example, the newspaper Ma'ariv, had an article dealing with the disappearance, quoted a police official saying: "It's frustrating that because of the lack of responsibility of a young girl we placed tremendous forces which searched for her throughout Shabbos."
The main arguments were that the girl should have updates her family before Shabbos that she did not reach her destination, to avoid unnecessary worry.
"People worked until the wee hours of the night looking for her throughout the center of the country. We still do not know exactly how much money we spent on these searches, but certainly a considerable amount of money. We put helicopters in the air, dozens of police cars searched; we performed a large number of investigative actions which cost a lot of money. We are currently investigating the young girl at a police station in Netanya."
In the same article 'a senior policeman' was also quoted: "I do not know if this is the case where you can blame her for causing a public mishap according to criminal law, but by her irresponsible behavior she has actually caused public mishap."
In a conversation conducted by a B'Chadrei Charedim reporter with a family member of Naama, he responded and said, "This is traumatic for the family, we just want to move on and try to recover from this difficult Shabbos, we prefer not to comment in the media."
