A week before filing the lists for the Knesset sources within Yahadut Hatorah, like the other parties, are trying to improve their positions.
If Belze chasidism believed that the convention of the 'eight committee' held last week at the home of Yohoshua Pollack from Shlomei Emunim, will help it achieve its demand to the third place in Agudath Yisrael on account of the 'United Party' of Vizhnitz, they very quickly learned their mistake. MK Yisrael Eichler, a representative of Belze, placed his arguments, the associates shook their heads in sympathy, and that was that.
On Friday the 'eight' will convene and will meet at the home of Pollak for another meeting, after which members will leave with nothing. The commission has no teeth here.
On Sunday the National Conference of Agudath Israel, which has 200 members will convene. At this conference there is also not expected to be any significant decision, after all, Belze chassidim don’t even have a representative there. Objectively, there is no doubt the Belzer's situation is quite sad, because today they are paying the price for accession to Degel HaTorah in the past and the payments end is nowhere in sight.
As long as Agudath Yisrael movement does not maintain internal primaries to determine the power ratio between the parties, it does not seem that there is a solution to be found for the requirements of Belze. An antique agreement in Agudath Yisrael states that as long as there were no internal elections - do not touch, do not change or move. Whatever was shall be. Namely: MK Menachem Eliezer Moses from the united parties of Vizhnitz in fifth place of Yahadut Hatorah (third in Agudat Yisrael party), and Eichler in sixth place (forth in Agudath Yisrael).
This is what there is.
But Belze is not going to give up so easily, and are preparing to attack and try to get an achievement. "The last time we worked for the success of the list. There are groups in Shlomei Emunim trust who were angry over the election results in Jerusalem in which Meir Porush lost – and did not vote. What happened in the end is that we worked for nothing - our representative was out of the Knesset for two years. This is what might happen to us this time. We work, and because of internal disputes, say in 'Degel', a sixth representative will not enter, who will pay the price again? We will. Eichler will once again remain outside, "said a senior chassid, and requires rotation for fifth and sixth places."Once they are, once we are, and now it's our turn."
According to the vertices of Belze, a delegation to the Rebbe Vizhnitz will soon go out to explain to him the significance of Vizhnitz not willing to give up. "Also chassidim of the Rebbe Rm"m Vizhnitz will not vote Yahadut Hatorah, as well as Belze chassidim", they explained.
Vizhnitz chassidimanswer: "Even in the last election Rm"m followers did not vote Yahadut Hatorah" and mention the 90's, when they did not vote due to a conflict with Ger. "We are talking about a hundred families, an insignificant number of impacts ". As for Belze, say Vizhnitz, they will punish only themselves if they do not participate in the elections.
There doesn’t seem to be a real solution on the horizon. None of the factions will support in the primaries of Agudat Yisrael. "Ger which is located first has only to lose. Shlomei Emunim definitely has, "say Vizhnitz, and agree that what was will be." To blame our Rebbe, that because of him we lose a mandate is absurd, and has Degel solved its internal problems too?"
Belze representatives responded formally as follows:
A. We are not talking about a meeting or visit with the Vizhnitzer Rebbe. The Rebbe's are not busy with the battle over the seats. The discussion is mainly between the representatives and activists.
B. There were no threats about not voting. This is unlike other groups who refrained from voting in the past.
