Subsidies for child care? Ministry of Industry has time

Following complaints about the delay in approval ratings for parental subsidy for eligibility by the Industry Ministry for child care, MK Uri Maklev sent an urgent appeal to the Ministry CEO: "There is the wave of inquiries which indicates not only improper and unreasonable behavior, but on negligence."

"The long wait to determine levels of parental participation for fees for day care is unacceptable by any standard, especially when today; months after the date of registration, a significant percentage of the parents have not yet determined their level." Complains MK Rabbi Uri Maklev in a letter sent this week ministry director, Sharon Kidmi, in which he requires him to expedite the handling of determining the payment levels for childcare parents subsidized by the Ministry of Industry.

Testimonies received in recent months to the office of MK Rabbi Uri Maklev, indicates that there are ongoing delays with regard to set tuition levels in day care centers subsidized by the Ministry of Industry.

More so evidence shows that the long waiting time at the call center is unbearable, waiters on the line can hear that more than ninety calls are waiting ahead.

"Aside from determining the degree and applying the discount for the parents," says MK Rabbi Uri Maklev, "during the long waiting period, parents are forced to pay much higher tuition than they need and can and are forced to reduce a substantial sum from their wage each month to pay for the childcare for their children, which many times makes the mothers going to work impossible and not worthwhile, even though they are entitled under any criteria a significant subsidy from the Ministry of Industry.

"In addition many parents also complain that they cannot reach the call center of the Ministry of Industry, which has become most difficult to almost impossible to do," wrote MK Rabbi Maklev in his letter.

"These parents are clueless and helpless since they have no knowledge of why the delayed determination of rank and have no reasonable way to check this. These are not individual complains, but a wave of inquiries on the subject, suggesting only a procedure that is not only unreasonable, wrong and unjustifiable, but negligence of the ongoing suffering of parents.".

In light of the situation MK Rabbi Maklev requests of the CEO of the Ministry, "essential care and immediate change in determining the rating, in order to prevent injustice, delays, and serious economic difficulties for many parents."
