Haaretz survey: Left-wing shrinking: 7 mandates to Tzipi Livni

Tzipi Livni, who announced to the government yesterday that she is running at the top the list of a new party, manages to gather only 7 mandates, and is unable to move votes from the right-wing mass to the center-left mass.

According to a survey in Ha'aretz - a dialogue held yesterday, under the supervision of Prof. Camill Fuchs of the Department of Statistics at Tel Aviv, what Livni does manage to do is to crush the Left and hit 'Yesh Atid' of Yair Lapid hard which loses five mandates (relative to the last survey), and 'Haavodah' of Yachimovich – which also looses five mandates.

There is no alternative in the meantime to Netanyahu. On the critical question of suitability for prime minister, Netanyahu overrides Livni: 66% of Ha'aretz survey respondents think he fits the job, with 21% seeing Livni as a personality fit to lead Israel.

At this stage of the campaign, eight days before the filing of the final list, it seems that the 2013 elections are decided.

The survey showed that a week after the 'Pillar of Defense' ceasefire which angered many Likud voters, and the day after the primaries for the Likud's Knesset list, it turns out that the Likud–Beitenu is strong and stable, and chisels a line of 40 mandates. This is despite all the dire predictions that the right list selected will scare voters.

Meanwhile, the center - left goes and wanes, and includes 11 mandates of the Arab parties, which totals only 51 seats. The Right - Religious mass totals 69 mandates, including the 'Am Shalem' party led by MK Chaim Amsalem, which continues to cross the threshold.

According to the survey, Meretz is strengthening and reaches 5 mandates.
Other questions examined in the survey: defense minister Ehud Barak who declared his resignation, still enjoys the 'Pillar of Defense' fame. Almost half of respondents want to see him as the defense minister in the next government.

An additional two things which stand out in the survey: Kadima with 28 mandates in the last Knesset is inexistent in the electoral map; 'New Shas' cannot rise above the 11 mandates it has today.

Following are the results of the survey:
Likud-39
Avodah-18
Shas-11
Lapid-8
Bennett-8
Livni-7
Yahadut-6
Meretz-5
Amsalem-3
Otzma L'Yisrael-2
Kadima-2
Arabs-11
