'Hatzala' in Lakewood, New Jersey confiscated in a precedent way Walkie Talkie devices of children aged 12 and 13, who intervened with the frequencies of 'Hatzala 'and disrupted the radio tranmitters of the volunteers.
A member of 'Hatzala' said in a conversation with Behadrey Haredim that the phenomenon of an attempt to trace the frequency of Hatzala is not new, and "has turned into a game of adults looking for action." But while adults only listened to messages, the kids went a step further and used the Hatzala frequencies to talk with their friends.
"It has recently become a dangerous nuisance," says a volunteer. "Children were able to get on the frequencies of Hatzala drivers, and began to use them with friends - something which impaired the connection between ambulance drivers, among themselves, and between them and the Hatzala center."
Professionals were able to identify the street from which the children transmitted. Volunteers of Hatzala caught the children in the act and confiscated the devices which turned out to be simple Walkie Talkie devices, sold in electronics stores or toy stores. The devices were transferred to the parents.
"If this phenomenon continues, it could be we'll be forced to block the penetration into the frequency using a secret code to be used only by the regular Hatzala volunteers. This solution is problematic, because not all volunteers are fixed." Others argue that digital transmitters will solve the problem, but these are expensive devices.
