New record in the U.S lottery: $425 million

New lottery record in the United States: After none of the players guessed all the numbers in the lottery held last night (Sunday), the prize in the next lottery will be a total of $425 million, and maybe even more.

According to the Powerball site, in the lottery held yesterday, dozens of participants won $1 million and another won $2 million.

The new amount for whoever will guess all the numbers is the highest in the history of lotteries by Powerball, and may rise as sales are also expected to increase before the lottery.

The previous record was $365 million in 2006, when the Nebraska factory workers won the lottery.

Iowa Lottery spokeswoman Marie Niobauar, noted that sales for the lottery yesterday were very high, mainly because of the weekend liquidation sales for holiday season, and thus the first prize reached $325 million - the fourth-highest of all time.
