This morning (Monday), two weeks after being arrested, two suspects of defrauding the Ministry of Education in the 'Bnos Yerushalayim-Keren Moshe' case were released.

It is suspected that three people swindled the Ministry of Education by tens of millions of shekels in recent years, through a fictitious organization they established. It is suspected that they sought the support of the Ministry of Education for an educational anti - Zionist institution which never asked for government support. They also noted fictitious names of students not studying at the institution and requested support for them.

Another hearing was due to take place this morning at the Peace Court to discuss the evolving investigation, but apparently police investigators realized that the option to extend the detention again will not be accepted, and came up with prior consent with the suspects' lawyers. Suspects were released under restrictive and minimal conditions.

According to the conditions, two suspects were released with a deposit of 75,000 to 100,000 shekels and are also forbidden to leave the country or contact anyone involved in the case. In addition, they had to commit additional financial guarantees.
At the last hearing of the case of the suspects the judge ruled that the evidence held by the police is increasingly based.

Note that the third suspect who was arrested at the beginning of the case was released over a week ago to house arrest.

Attorney Ariel Atari, representing the main suspect, said to B'Chadrei Charedim: "It took the police two long weeks to discover there was no room for extension of detention in the first place. The police claimed at the beginning of the investigation that they did not find the structure of the institution which is fictitious and finally, after two weeks they found it 30 meters from the place they searched. When the investigation is conducted in this way, we can understand how unfounded the allegations are."

Attorney Shimon Kokohs, representing one of the suspects, said to B'Chadrei Charedim: "I'm glad the police began to retreat. They are doing so with small steps and carefully, but I hope that once they identify the ground they will retreat quickly."
