In the Orthodox neighborhoods there is great satisfaction from the results of the elections held last night (Tuesday) for communal administrations. In Romema, Ramat Shlomo and Givat Shaul - some of the neighborhoods in which they were to be an election – but were not held due to full approval formed around the candidates.

There are 15 board members in the community administrations, nine of them who are volunteer residents who represent the public and 6 are representatives of the Jerusalem Municipality and the Community Council. Elected board members are expected to cooperate with the professional staff of the administration - not related to the campaign.

In the Har Nof neighborhood nine representatives were elected to support the neighborhood: Rabbis Yaakov Moshe Spitzer, Meir Hershler, Aryeh Fucksbrumer, Shmuel Deutsch, Yosef Vagshal, Chaim Sebagh, Eliezer Rauchberger, Zeev Klaristenfeld and Menachem Bruckman.

Success was also recorded in Neve Yaakov, where until today there was only one Orthodox representative at the local administration at once, now eight of the nine seats in the Executive Administration was selected for the ultra-Orthodox community representatives.

Representatives selected: Avraham Bezalel, Yehuda Rothman, Eliyahu Jacoby, Shalom Avital, Michael Malkiely, Zvi Nirenberg, and Yehuda Shlomo Morgenbesser and Yehuda Mandel. It should be noted that last Motzei Shabbos there was a central gathering in the neighborhood, with community rabbis, during which residents were drafted for the delegates.

In the neighborhood of Ramat Eshkol – Givah Zarfatit there was an exceptional success: as orthodox representatives Yitzchak Beinisch and Avashalom Stergiou were elected. The representative of the haredi community in Givah Zarfatit was not chosen due to a change in electoral boundaries within the neighborhood.

Nevertheless selecting two other delegates representing the haredi public is considered a success, since breakdown of voting data shows that the ultra-Orthodox representatives at all - even those not selected - won by 1,000 votes, which proves clearly the expansion of the Haredi public in the neighborhood, after an incitement campaign waged by other contenders against the Givah Zarfatit neighborhood against the ultra-Orthodox residents.

In the incorporated neighborhoods of the city administration, including the Morshe neighborhood and the Jewish Quarter, Yisrael Touitou was elected, an agreed candidate of the Haredi Jewish Quarter. Another candidate by the city administration community - Mordechai David Schiff, who competed in the 'Morshe' neighborhood, won by 200 votes, and lost by 30 votes to the local secular candidate.

Morshe residents said that despite the disappointment of the non election of their representatives, they are satisfied with the summoning of the two hundred people who gave their voices to the orthodox candidate. "This is clear proof of the large number of local observant residents, contrary to claims made against us until today that we barely total a dozen families," they note with satisfaction.

Deputy Mayor Yossi Deitch, who worked to help the orderly and responsible conduct for the election, visited every neighborhood headquarters where elections were held, along with colleagues Yaakov Halperin, chairman of the Yahadut Hatorah, and Council Member Rabbi Yisrael Kellerman.

During the visits, they heard serious complaints from contestants against various factors, some of which are responsible for the management of elections. And especially that they initiate various administrative changes and changes constantly with a clear trend to limit and fight against the election of the ultra-Orthodox representatives in several administrations. Deitch said today that despite all the public has proved itself and appeared to vote for worthy leadership which will represent the Haredi public in the upcoming term at the community administrations, along with municipal representatives who will work for the welfare of the residents of the neighborhoods."
