Wounded near Beitar: hospitalized in serious condition

Ziona, the wife of musician Itzik Kala, a resident of the settlement of Tzur Hadassah, was seriously injured last night near Beitar Illit, whilst driving her car. She was hospitalized in the intensive care at Hadassah Ein Kerem Hospital in Jerusalem, in serious but stable condition.

Kala, 60 was injured by a rock thrown at her while driving with her daughter near Beitar Illit, at about 20:15, when she drove from Jerusalem to her home. One of the rocks hit the car windshield and slid into the car and hit her head. Her daughter who was driving continued to the entrance of Beitar Illit, and called the medical and security forces.

Inspector David Assaraf, Shai District police spokesman, told B'Chadrei Charedim that during the night and this morning 22 suspects were arrested for throwing stones and conflagration bottles at Israeli vehicles. Referring to the stone-throwing attack near Beitar, he said an investigation began.

Etty Dvir, a spokeswoman for Hadassah Hospital in Ein Kerem, said the injured woman was hospitalized in intensive care, and her situation continues to be serious but stable.
