What do the American people have to say about the 'Pillar of Defense' military operation in the Gaza Strip?
A survey published today by the CNN network shows that 59% of respondents in the United States expressed solidarity with Israel, compared with 13% who identify with the Palestinian side. 57% of citizens surveyed said that Israel's military operation in Gaza is justified. Only 24% said that it's not justified.
3 out of 4 Republicans thought that the operation is justified, compared with 41% of Democrats and 59% independents.
Today U.S. President Barack Obama met with French President Francois Holland and British Prime Minister David Cameron. The three agreed that they would continue to back Israel against Hamas leaders, but opposed the entry of ground forces into Gaza
