Fatalities: Mira Scharf, Aharon Samadja and Yitzchak Amsalem, Hy"d

"The residents are shocked, just shocked," say residents of Nachlas Har - Chabad of Kiryat Malachi. Outside the four-story building on the Baal Shem Tov street, which suffered a direct hit by a rocket this morning, many gathered. The neighbors are staring upstairs, where the missile landed, killing three and wounding six. "We never thought that we will have to undergo such a harsh disaster," they say, "that we would suffer such a deadly hit."

The killed are Mira Scharf hy"d, 27, Chabad activist in New Delhi (her funeral will take place at 20:00pm from Shamgar to Har Hamenuchos), Aharon Smadja hy"d, 49 (funeral will be in Nachalat Har Chabad at 20:00) and Yitzchak Amsalem, 24, who lives with his family in the building.

"The missile caught them on the way to the steps," says a neighbor at the scene of the disaster. Resident of the building said: "When the operation started, we went down to check the shelter, and we found it has heavy objects and is not equipped to accommodate people. That's why part of the residents preferred to stay at home or go to the stairs, and now it happened.

"Aharon Samadja hy"d sent his family to the stairs, and then - he went back up to help family Scharf out with the kids to the staircase. At that moment the missile landed, killing him and Mira, and wounding her husband Shmuel and children."

"He had a warm countenance"

Mira Scharf, 27, worked with her husband as activists to disseminate Judaism in New Delhi, India. Only recently they returned to Israel for a short time to get a visa for India. Her husband and three children were with her in the apartment. They were wounded and evacuated to hospital. Her husband was seriously injured in his hand. One of the children, aged 6, was seriously injured.

"Mira did not grow up in a family of Chabad, but insisted to study in Chabad institutions. They decided to leave right after the wedding for activity in New Delhi, India. To live in sub-conditions and to sacrifice for Jews and Israelis seeking their way," says family member about Mira hy"d.

"It's scary to think that exactly on the fourth anniversary of the killing of the couple Gabi and Rivka Holtzberg, Chabad emissaries in Mumbai, India, Chabad activist was killed as a result of a missile." Welfare officials will accompany the bereaved husband and his orphaned children immediately after they recover from the disaster.

Another casualty was Aharon Samadja hy"d, a veteran of the Chabad community, who until a few years ago was an owner of a deli in the neighborhood.

"For years he and his wife were expecting children," said a family friend to Behadrey Haredim. "Several years ago, he had twins, and a year ago a baby girl was born. He had a welcoming countenance, and when his first children were born, his joy skyrocketed. He was so happy, and today he was killed. It's so hard to think of him leaving his children without a father, a shame how the best were taken ".

"It hurts our heart about the parents"

Yitzchak Amsalem hy"d, the third victim, 24, lived with his family in the building. "Unfortunately his sister, who is on a Chabad mission in South America, has received the bitter news, although we tried to keep it from her. We are making efforts to bring her to Israel," said a member of Kiryat Malachi council, Haim Steiner.

"This is an important and familiar family of the city, who sends its children to education institutions of Chabad, although the family does not belong to the chassidus. They always tend to help those requiring help. Our heart hurts for the parents who have to deal with such a disaster. "

Steiner describes what happened minutes after the impact of the missile: "There was a big crowd of people. I went straight up to the apartments above. Drives of Hatzala were in the middle of resuscitation, and the families were in shock. Shouts were heard from all over and there was a big shock.

"We are in the war room and together with the welfare authorities we will treat all those in need. We have no experience with such cases, and it's a pity that our first experience - brought such a harsh result. "

Shmulik Scharf, whose wife was killed, was taken in for a head operation this afternoon. The public is asked to pray for Shmuel ben Chaya Sarah Yehudit.
