Results of the primaries held on Tuesday for the Bayit Hayehudi party is quite surprising. According to the results, published this afternoon (Wednesday), Nissan Slomiansky came first (after the Chairman which has already been selected), a confidant of MK Zevulun Orlev.
Orlev retired from politics immediately after the results of the primaries as chairman of the movement - which was defeated by Naftali Bennett, who was elected as chairman.
The man who drove the course of the most Democratic Party primaries was MK Uri Orbach. Orbach also won a warm recommendation by Naftali Bennett, as his own preferred candidate, but the friends decided to go against the new chairman and assigned him as forth.
In fact, apart from Orbach there is no incumbent MK on the list, after Minister Daniel Hershkowitz refrained from participating, and MK Zevulun Orlev retired.
On the battle for third place Naftali Bennett recorded a victory over the election of Ayelet Shaked, the candidate recommended by him. Shaked is a secular right-wing activist and essentially turned the third slot into a women's slot, although the forth slot was assigned for that.
In the primaries, the Bayit Hayehudi voters voted in 160 polling stations across the country on their candidate list for the next Knesset. Today the results were officially released after the party vertices made a supreme effort to maintain absolute secrecy about the outcome.
More on the selected list: Avi Wartzman, deputy mayor of Beersheba, who received support from Benett - fifth place, Moti Yogev – Sixth place, Yoni Shitvon - seventh place, and Shuli Muallem - eighth place. Ninth place: Jeremy Gampel, and tenth place: Rabbi Rachamim Nissimi.
The members were chosen out of a list of 14 candidates.
