Today (Wednesday) it has been released that detectives and investigators at the Central division Unit in cooperation with the General Security Service detained for questioning four minor Arabs aged 13 to 17, residents of East Jerusalem who are suspected of stabbing a Jewish resident of the Muslim Quarter on Friday night last week, when he made his way by foot with his friend to the Moskowitz compound in Ras al-Amud.
The four confessed and recounted the incident.
The two suspects were taken today at 12:00 to the Magistrate's Court to extend their detention and the indictment against two other suspects will be submitted today in the District Court.
Investigation of the case indicates that the four, known to the police for stone-throwing decided that since they were detained about a month ago in response to stone throwing, to establish a link called "lovers of Israel" and to carry out stabbing attacks and continue throwing stones as a squad this time "due to the occupation."
The two main suspects (who are distant relatives) purchased two knives in the shop in the Old City and distributed roles among members of the squad, two minors aged 13.5 and 14.5 will serve as lookouts while the other two aged 15 and 17, will stab the Jews.
Another minor aged 17 joined the group which participated in planning the attacks but the squad members refused to let him join for an unknown reason.
On the day of the attack the suspects roamed the area in Ras al-Amud and searched for a victim knowing that Jews walk to the Moskowitz compound after Friday prayers at the Western Wall.
The two main suspects were waiting behind a truck parked in Ras al-Amud and two others toured the place and were supposed to sign the arrival of the Jews.
With the arrival of two Jews at the square, the 17 year old minor arrived and stabbed the Jewish man in his back. The other minor also came out of hiding to stab the other Jew, but was interrupted by a passing car. Following the attack each of the youngsters fled to his home.
The stabbed Jew and his friend came to the Moskowitz compound where he removed the knife from his back and was transferred for medical treatment; the knife was taken by the police and transferred for tests at the forensic laboratory at the national headquarters.
Following the attack an intense search started to capture the attackers. On Motzei Shabbos the main suspect was arrested and taken for investigation at the ISA. A few days later the second suspect was arrested. The two confessed at the investigation and incriminated the other two suspects.
During the investigation of the four, it became clear that they shared their plans before and after with their families. The father and brother of the 15 year old suspect were arrested after they took away his knife and threw it away near their home. The sister of the 17 year old suspect was also arrested after it emerged that she knew about the plan and the stabbing itself. Indictments will be submitted against all three.
