In the afternoon, shortly after 14:00, a mortar shell landed north of Tel Chezka in the Golan Heights. The bomb fell near an IDF post in the Israel-Syria border, in the center of the Golan Heights, during battle between the Syrian army and rebels. There were no casualties or damage.
In response, the Israeli forces fired tanks towards the source of the shooting. A precise target hit was identified - and the fire on the Syrian side stopped. IDF sent a message to UN sources. As reported yesterday, the IDF will respond harshly against damage in Israel's territory.
A little more than a week ago the battle between the Syrian army and the rebel forces began to flow into Israel. It was after three Syrian tanks entered the demilitarized Golan and took part in fighting against rebel forces.
A week ago a military vehicle driven by the patrol battalion commander of the Golani Brigade was hit by gunfire from Syrian territory.
Last Thursday, three mortar shells fell in the Golan Heights in Israel, after they were fired from Syria. At least one of them exploded. One of the bombs diameter 82 mm, fell in the heart of Aloni Bashan settlement and exploded. Another bomb fell near the border fence.
Yesterday (Sunday) shots were fired at an IDF post in the Golan, and in response, IDF forces fired warning shots using a Tamuz Rocket, which was shot at a battery of the Syrian army that carried out the attack. This is the most accurate guided missile, unveiled a year ago.
Later a warning message was transferred to the UN warning the Syrian forces that if they fire again into Israeli territory, it will result in a fierce reaction.
"This is a Syrian matter which can become our matter," said Chief of Staff Lt. Gen. Benny Gantz, last week whilst touring the Syrian border. Chief of Staff instructed to maintain a readiness alert level of protection and to prevent any spillover of fighting into our territory.
In recent days, there were fierce battles between the Syrian army and opponents of the regime in communities of the Golan Heights in Syria, near the border of Israel.
The battles take place in the villages of Bir al - Ajami at the feet of Tel Chazka, and G'ovta Al Chashav 2 km away from the border. Battles last week killed about 30 people from the rebels and Assad's Army in the Syrian Golan.
