For the first time since the Yom Kippur War Israelis were fired at Syrian posts.
During the battle between the Syrian army rebels fired today (Sunday) at an IDF outpost. There were no casualties.
In response, IDF forces fired warning shots to Syrian areas, and a message was passed to the United Nations to send a warning message to the Syrian forces if shots will be fired into Israeli territory. Another shooting episode will result in a reaction.
Chief of Staff, Lt. Gen. Benny Gantz, visited the Syrian border last week with 36 division commanders, who are responsible among other things, on the decree of the Syrian border. "This is a Syrian matter which can turn into our matter," said the chief to forces in the field and ordered to maintain a readiness alert level of protection and to prevent any spillover of fighting in our territory.
