Dozens of protesters, most of them are affiliated with the organization, Atra Kadisha, went out today (Thursday) to demonstrate in the complex where the Government campus in Be'er Sheva is being built by the 'Karso' company, claiming desecration of graves made during construction work in the area.
The protesters tried to prevent the continuation of the construction work and as a result, the Be'er Sheva police were called to the site. The police tried to restore calm to the site - and dispersed the protesters. Some protesters refused to disperse, and four of them were arrested.
In a conversation with B'Chadrei Charedim an activist at the demonstration said that police tried to provoke them by force. "When it comes to ultra-Orthodox demonstrators, as in this case, the police sent women to make a scene in front of us," he accuses.
Following this argument, a police official said that the police have men and women in every shift. At any event requiring the intervention of the police, available mobility is sent to the site without any special filter. At the demonstration area there certainly were male police so the accusations are baseless.
Negev District Police spokesperson, Superintendent Nava Taboo said in response to B'Chadrei Charedim that the four protesters who were arrested will be brought tomorrow to extend their detention. One of them is suspected of assaulting city inspectors, another person is suspected of entering working pits, risking his life and violating disorder, two additional suspects on incitement and provocative behavior and causing severe disturbance.
It should be noted that the 'Association for prevention of desecration of graves', turned to the 'Karso' company in the past on the grounds that there is a fear desecration of graves in the area. In an examination they revealed that indeed there are graves on the site. Subsequently, the company changed some of the construction plans, and agreed to accept the provisions of the Association, who argued that they are subject to the rabbis. In contrast, the Atra Kadisha, think otherwise and claim the desecration of graves in construction.
