Charges held against three Yeshiva students in Tifrach

Charges held against three members of the 'Toshia' Yeshiva in Tifrach, for acts of violence against a resident of the settlement, Yitzchak Ariel

Charges held against three Yeshiva students in Tifrach

Not every day are Yeshiva students brought before the Magistrate's Court in Beer - Sheva. This morning it happened - when three Yeshiva students from 'Toshia' in Tifrach were brought before the court, for a hearing held for serious indictment filed against them.

The case is a continuation to a prolonged conflict between the Yeshiva and Yitzchak Ariel, a Tifrach resident who dared to apply to the settlement committee. This was not the spirit of the yeshiva rabbis and since Ariel and his family has suffered constant harassment by students. Abuse - including threats, harassment and attacks - also caused damage worth thousands of dollars.

The three members of the Yeshiva, 'Toshia' – S.R., M.L. and Y.M. - aged 22-23, are suspected as having participated in the violence and induction and severe charges are held against them.

The indictment describes some of the harassment in which the police managed to formulate strong evidence that proved the involvement of the three. Others, like the police failed to get on the suspects, have remained so far under a question mark.
According to the Ariel family, the yeshiva heads are providing backup to the defendants. "It's outrageous," they said to B'Chadrei Charedim. "This Yeshiva eliminates boys who went to watch the 'Iron Dome'." But when it comes to criminal behavior, they receive full support in court, this is a disgrace. "

The Yeshiva management's response has not been received. It will be published when it is received.

By miracle the stone did not hit

The yeshiva have tried to keep the indictment itself confidential. Nevertheless, it reached B'Chadrei Charedim - and is revealed for the first time.

According to the descriptions, on 7.1.11 tried one of the boys, who have charges filed against him, attacked Yitzchak Ariel when he threw a stone at him, while traveling with his family in his car. "By miracle only," the indictment states, "he was not hurt by the stone which hit the car wheel."

A few days later - on 10.1.11, Ariel arrived at a Tifrach synagogue to pray Mincha. Many of the Yeshiva students gathered around the synagogue and began to curse and push Ariel, just because of his desire to run for settlement committee.

One of the boys accused, attacked Ariel and poured a cup of water over him. Ariel called the police because he "feared for his life."

Meanwhile, two other boys blocked the road - and were detained for questioning. They were also arrested for obstructing justice.

Other cases, including Ariel's car which was set on fire, rocks thrown into his house have not inserted in the indictment, because police have not yet succeeded in capturing suspects behind the deeds.
