The Morning After: Obama establishes a new administration

U.S. elections might have left President Barack Hussein Obama in his place, but in his immediate surroundings, many changes will take place, first and foremost, the Secretary of State (the American equivalent of foreign minister).

Hillary Clinton, who played the role during his previous term, has announced that she will not continue for another term, and the senior role race is underway.

Among the prominent candidates mentioned as possible secretary of state, you can find Susan Reiss, U.S. Ambassador to the UN, John Kerry, the Massachusetts senator, who purchased the international experience from his post as chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee. Kerry ran in the past as a Democratic presidential candidate nomination against President Bush and lost.

Also the name of William Burns, who is now her deputy of Clinton, came on as a possible substitute, along with other names.

The second most important role, but very critical in terms of the current U.S. economic situation, is the Minister of Finance. Timothy Geithner, the current finance minister, has announced that he will make a single term. Here too several names have come up, including Jack Leo, an observant American Jew, who is currently head of the White house staff, and Erskine Howells, who serves as chairman of the economic committee appointed by Obama two years ago.

Even General Prosecutor Eric Holder shows signs of retirement. So too Janet Napolitano, Minister of Public Security, has yet to announce whether she plans to continue her role. In addition, Defense Secretary Leon Panetta is expected to finish the job next year. All these will force Obama to find suitable substitutes.
