Orthodox woman sent to 10 years in prison • "serious fraud"

U.S. Minnesota Court sentenced 47 year old Wendy Weiner, an orthodox film director to 10 years in prison for the conviction of fraud.

The director presented false documents to the authorities for tax credits and state incentives recruitment, producing films.

Weiner received incentives worth $1.8 million, which according to the prosecution were unlawful. She appealed the punishment in Iowa's Appellate Court, but the appeal was rejected.

During the trial, Weiner published a blog with comments waged against the judge, against the claim and against the court. She accused the plaintiffs of anti-Semitism and this behavior increased the penalty.

"The messages indicate that she did not take responsibility for what she did and what she did is a criminal offense," the judge wrote in his ruling.
