Elad Rabbonim gathered: concern for Mikves

Following the deteriorating situation of religious services in Elad, Rabbonim of the city gathered last night (Tuesday) to say: "Enough with the destruction."

Earlier this week, six workers employed by the city's cleaning company in Mikves, received a letter of dismissal due to municipality's debt to the company for the sum of NIS 800,000.

So too, in the wake of the crisis, Mayor Yitzhak Idan announced that he will cut down on 35 percent of the Mikves' budget.

The Rabbonim's convention was held at the city Rav's office, Hag"r Shlomo Zalman Grossman. The director of the municipality's religion department, Tomer Cohen, was summoned to a meeting and briefed the rabbis of the situation.

The rabbis expressed concern about the ongoing harm to religious services. "We have to stand up, protest and cry out with all our force," said one of the rabbis. "It is unthinkable that a Hareidi city may actually harm Mikves."

The rabbis also added: "There are enough places where to cut down, the mayors have to solve the problem in a different way and not harm the religious services, it all depends on the priorities of the people who head the municipality."

Some Rabbonim of communities met with the mayor, who promised that the issue will be dealt with.
