Hagaon Metzger: "Pray for the salvation of the people of New York"
In a step of identification, the Chief Rabbi issued a personal request: "to say Tehillim on Shabbos for the Refuah of the unwell and injured patients from the hurricane Sandy

Chief Rabbi of Israel, Rabbi Yona Metzger issued a personal request in wake of the hurricane that struck the U.S. East Coast:
"Due to the storm felt throughout the State of New York, out of solidarity, love, and gratitude – we will carry out a prayer, and read Tehillim in all synagogues on Shabbos, for the unwell and injured casualties, for the salvation of those who have lost their homes, for the benefit of those who lost their income and businesses were hit and all those in need of salvation.
"We ask G-d Almighty to show his pity and have mercy and heal and salvage them.
"We bless all charity organizations, rescue organizations, health services and welfare with the blessing, all that deal with public needs, G-d will pay their wages, Amen, May it be His will."
