Despite the darkness: The Satmar Rebbe stayed with his chassidim

Despite the darkness and the power failure which prevails in Kiryat Yoel, the Satmar Rebbe will stay with his Chassidim over Shabbos.

Kiryat Yoel in Monroe, are still in deep darkness and cut off from power. Only about a thousand of the four thousand inhabitants of the city have electricity.

One of the houses without electricity is the home of the Satmar Rebbe, who has refused to abandon his Chassidim to their fate.

In fact, there is a Shabbos event for the grandson of his brother-in-law in Williamsburg, New - York, and the Yeshiva is closed. However the Rebbe announced that he will not go to New York and will stay in Kiryat Yoel along with his Chassidim who are sitting in the dark.

Heads of the Kiryah decided to prepare for Shabbos and hand out free Shabbos meals to all residents.

That is in addition to other Chesed organizations such as a laundry center and sleeping accommodations.
