Is Bikur Cholim hospital in Jerusalem in danger of closing?

The oligarch Arcadi Gaydamak bought the hospital five years ago, and signed an agreement according to which the organization which manages the hospital will not pay rental for the first five years, but these are coming to an end at the end of the month.

Consequently, from now on they will have to pay huge sums for the lease of the structure.

As a result of budgetary problems encountered by the hospital administration previously, it was decided to cut employee wages by 30% in September.

Four employees, including a senior doctor and three nurses resigned and in the coming days a further resignation wave is expected to surge.

A source at the hospital said that as a result of the situation, workers recently began working in a Saturday format, but he said the hospital administration and doctors' union will do anything to prevent the closure.

The Bikur Cholim Hospital is located on the Haneviim street in Jerusalem. It serves, among others, hundreds of Hareidi families. Even extremist circles of the Eda Hareidis faction tend to use the services of this medical institution.
