Baruch Dayan Ha'emes: Yesterday (Sunday) at the Ichilov hospital in Tel Aviv, the avrech Harav Avichai Yitzchak z"l, resident of Zichron Yaakov, passed away after 8 years of being ill, at the age of 46.
The deceased z"l learned in his youth at the Porath Yosef Yeshiva in Jerusalem. After his marriage, he moved to Zichron Yaakov, where he learned at the local Kollel. Afterwards he served as Shochet and Bodek on behalf of the She'eris Yisrael hechsher for more than twenty years, and composed the books "Massoret Bnei Teiman".
His acquaintances tell of a great and learned Talmich Chacham who was totally devoted to the Shechita in which he dealt. He was a dominant figure in Zichron Yaakov, where he founded the Yemenite community, and even built a luxurious shull and Mikveh.
He is survived by a dor yeshorim mevorach, his wife, and eleven children, three of whom are married, and the youngest aged 5.
Last week he wrote a will, in which he asked his sons to continue all the Yemenite customs, and in his levaya he requested to perform all the customs.
His levaya left yesterday (Mon.) at noon time from his home in Zichron Yaakov to the local cemetery – where he was buried. In the levaya, hespedim were said by Hagrs"y Yungerman, Hagr"a Dinner, member of Badatz Sheeris Yisroel, Hagr"m Greineman, Rav of the city Hagr"m Abramowitz, and Harav Eliyahu Meir Schwartz.
May his soul be cherished for eternal life.
