Eastern economist. Shlomo Maoz, announced his joining the Likud and running for the Likud primaries of the 19th Knesset.
In an interview to the program 'Meet the Press' by Channel 2, Maoz said:" I'm an economist to the core. I'm all for social justice and want to help people. I made it on my own, I succeeded. Now I want to help people. I have done everything in life - I was a consultant to the Finance Minister Yitzhak Modai, I made reforms, I was in the business market, now I see the nation is in need and I want to help it. "
Maoz, a former director at "Excellence Niçois" company expressed enthusiastic support for the economic policies of the prime minister and said, "I fully support the policies of Netanyahu, who did great things here."
On the other attacked the social protest and said that it "does not bring anything about."
Maoz caused a storm because of things he delivered during a conference at Sapir College in Sderot last January, when he attacked the Ashkenazi elites. "In the 50's, the society was egalitarian," he said, "but it was an egalitarian society for Ashkenazim, and the chutzpah continues - for example, nepotism at the Supreme Court."
Maoz also attacked the kibbutz and said that, "the lands of Israel were looted by the kibbutzim and moshavim. Until today, sons who are successors continue to receive land - and they are head of the camp. They received water at a low price. Even at Savion an agricultural farm enjoys it. Really agricultural - there are still coops there".
Maoz said that "the same white society is in control - Bank Leumi is a bank of whites. Only whites can be appointed there for roles. I went to a committee that didn't invite me. I sent a letter through a lawyer. They found me fit but they closed the second door. The committee was all Ashkenazim. I went to the Supreme Court - even there everyone was Ashkenazim. I spent 27 thousand shekels for that. Lucky I have money because I work in the capital market."
Subsequently he was fired.
Maoz also opened his mouth wide against the Hareidim. In an interview on Kol Yisrael radio station, Maoz explained why the Hareidi do not participate in the social protest: 'They are hedonistic, they enjoy, they have subsidized schools, subsidized Yeshivos, subsidized yellow bus, subsidized food, subsidized land like in Ramat Shlomo, where they declared currently that they will build there again, or in Elad.
"This is a very poor population that actually lives entirely on distribution moneys."
The response of Shas to Maoz joining the Likud: "The Likud Beitenu has significantly strengthened its economic teachings of its leaders with the addition of Shlomo Maoz. In 2005, during the tenure of the Prime Minister as finance minister, Maoz enthusiastically supported the cuts in benefits. Those who do not know how to start the month may find their home only in Shas movement who has taken care in the past and will continue to take care of tradition in Israel and the disadvantaged. "
