Strauss announced today (Wednesday) to food chain-stores that it is joining the list of companies who are raising their products' prices. Strauss will raise the price of its milk products by 3% to 5% on November 1. The rise will be in the price to food chain-stores, and each chain will collect it differently in its consumer prices.
The price hike will be as follows: Ski Cheese and Symphony will increase by 5%, fortified milk Yotvata by about 3%, "Danny" and "gamadim" will increase by 3.5%, and milk drinks by about 4%. "Milky" delicacy and yogurt prices remain unchanged.
However, Strauss announced to food chain-stores that it will not raise the rest of its products - among other things, Elite products (chocolate, wafers, cakes and coffee), Yad Mordechai and chilled salads.
Thus, Strauss becomes the first major dairy which increases the prices of dairy products, since the price of raw milk was updated in early October by 9%. Strauss preceded the Ministry of Agriculture which is expected to announce later this month or early November, the increase in price of dairy products under supervision, which may be followed by Tara and Tnuva raising their prices soon.
CEO of Strauss Israel, Zion Bels, commented: "If not for the raw milk price increase, we would not have raised the price of any category of Strauss now. In the past year we've made dozens of processes to increase efficiency and keep prices steady, despite sharp increases in the prices of most raw materials and energy.
"The increase in goal price requires us to make certain adjustments to the price of dairy products, however at this stage we will continue to absorb the increase in the price of production inputs and other raw materials in all other categories in which the company operates - and we will not increase prices in them."
