Jerusalem police continue to investigate the fire that broke out last week in the kitchen of the Zvihl hall on Shmuel Hanavi street in the city and caused heavy damage. The main direction of investigation: An Arab employee who was fired recently, ignited the place.

Last Monday afternoon, a fire broke out in the kitchens of the hall. One of the employees felt the smell of burning coming from the kitchen.

By miracle there were no injuries as a result of the fire and firefighters took control over the fire soon.

Later on the extent of the damage emerged: the main kitchen and one of the nearby halls where there were chairs, tables and other equipment, were completely destroyed. Other damage is defined as light damage as a result of the smoke and soot.

The findings of the investigation of the fire fighters showed a suspected intentional arson. "We picked up the findings, and passed the treatment to the police," said Assaf Evers, the spokesman for the firefighters in Jerusalem, in a talk with Behadrey Haredim.

Meanwhile, the events in other halls, those who were not damaged as a result of the fire, were held as usual. The events that were scheduled to take place in the damaged hall, were moved to other halls as a result.

"Of course we announced to everyone about the fire and were sorry for those who can not hold the event as planned," said an official of the management. "Those who paid for an event in that hall, received their money back and are holding the events in other halls."

In the coming weeks the hall will be undergoing renovations in the hope that by mid winter it can hold events.

As mentioned, the main suspect for arson is directed at Arab employee who was fired in a few weeks ago.
