After weeks of uncertainty, what should yeshiva students do or not do when they reach the induction base, Va'ad Hayeshivos published a letter with clear instructions.
The letter was sent to the Roshei Yeshivos, to distribute the contents among bochurim who receive summons from the army.
And these are instructions:
A. Each Yeshiva should appoint a representative to assist and guide each student who received a summons for initial enlistment. This representative will maintain contact with the student during the enlistment and thereafter, and will report any unusual incident to the Rosh Yeshiva and Vaad Hayeshivos. Thereafter, in the case of receipt of draft cards, the representative will be responsible for performing the entire Section D, and to be updated for further instructions.
B. Bnei Yeshivos who are being summoned for the first time, will perform the tests and checkups, will notify that Torah is their profession, and will not sign their names on any of forms of the recruiting office, only fill their personal details (one should show up with his ID).
C. We learned that the authorities recruit soldiers with a Hareidi appearance to try and convince Bnei Yeshivos by various trickery and threats to sign the forms or change their standing as Bnei Yeshiva Our duty is to be adamant against any such attempt and not to pay attention to their words at all.
D. After the initial summons, the army intends to submit drafts for defense service. Each Yeshiva where one of its students received this order must take the following steps immediately upon receipt of order: The student will fill the enclosed affidavit form, will identify himself by his ID to his attorney, will sign the affidavit in front of him, and the attorney will confirm the affidavit by signing.
