A road accident occurred on Shabbos morning near the Great Synagogue in Jerusalem: When the service ended, one of the men, aged 97, crossed the adjacent road, along with his foreign caregiver, was hit by a car and was seriously injured. The caregiver was not injured.

The serious accident occurred before the astonished eyes of the worshipers of the synagogue, who had finished the service. One of them, a volunteer paramedic in Ichud Hatzala, did not hesitate and quickly started resuscitation on the man.

The paramedic, Arye Yaffe - the son of the synagogue Chazan, Eli Yaffe – went up to the Torah only minutes earlier to celebrate his Shabbat Chatan.

"This morning I had just come out of the Aliya la'Torah," said the Chosson. "I feel the Mirs vibrating, hear something unclear about an accident on the street outside, and simultaneously hear screams of the caregiver. I went up to the casualty and began to perform CPR. Meantime I called my cousins, who are paramedics and nurses, and I went to the synagogue to bring equipment. Another on call paramedic came with equipment, and began respiration. An Intensive Care Unit van of MDA arrived, I helped them perform life-saving actions, and he was taken in a serious condition with severe head injury. "

The Chosson concludes by saying with a smile: "My agreement with my fiancée says that until three o'clock on the wedding day - I am with my Mirs."
