In Batei Warsaw in Jerusalem there are plans tomorrow (Sunday) to demonstrate against the intention to open a store in the neighborhood. Posters which were distributed against the opening of the store, said: "The fate of our holy neighborhood is in danger. How can we remain silent?"
The background to the dispute is a real estate dispute between members of "Poland Kollel", and residents of the neighborhood, some of who are Sikriks. Sikriks claim that in the coming days a new store will open near the 'Prushim' shul, the first of three stores which are expected to open in the coming months.
They argue that they are "ignoring the ruling of Badatz 'HaEideh Charedi'" prohibiting the opening of stores in the neighborhood."
"We must not remain silent now," the recently released ads read. "The fate of the sanctity of our neighborhood and rabbinic authority is in danger, if these criminals see that we remain silent. Those who the sanctity of our neighborhood and the authority of the Torah are precious to them should join in this campaign."
The demonstration will take place near where the store will open.
Extremists previously conducted a campaign against the store "Chad Peami", located in Meah Shearim, for similar claims. The campaign included posters, destruction and slander in the streets.
