Boris – a Romanian worker who came to Israel a few years ago – worked in the kloiz of Admorim – first in Bnei Brak at the Beis Midrash of Nadvorna, and later on in the Beis Midrash of Sert-Viznitz in Haifa.

The Chassidim used Boris as a Shabbos Goy in cases of electricity shortcuts for or air conditioners and the like. In many cases the Goy quickly learns the Chassidic mode of talk, and even repeats a few words in Yiddish – to the enjoyment of the Chassidim.

Lately, the Sert Viznitz Chassidim raised a suspicion that Boris is no less than a proper Jew. The suspicion arose as a result of his stories that his mother used to light candles on Friday, and after he sang old Jewish tunes, not only those which he heard at the Tisch.

At first, the Chassidim did not pay much attention, but when the suspicion increased and was more founded, they turned to the Rav and posek of the kehilla, Hagaon R' Dovid Shlomo Zolden, to check the matter.

Hagrd"s Zolden inquired into the matter with Boris, and as a result of their talk an announcement was hung up a few days ago on the bulletin board of the large Beis Midrash Makor Baruch in Ramat Viznitz in Haifa, in which it said, under the heading of "Zachor es Yom Hashabbos Lekadsho" that after an extensive and fundamental clarification by the Posek, it has been decided that Boris, the cleaner of the Beis Midrash is a proper Jew, and therefore there is a total Issur to ask him to do any works of Issurim on Shabbos.

Boris' work has remained untouched – to move the Paranches on Shabbos and organize the Beis Midrash, but without people asking him to do forbidden melachos on Shabbos.

Meanwhile, this evening (Wed.) the Sert-Viznitz Chassidus will mark 49 years to the ptira of the Makor Boruch of Sert Viznitz zt"l. A seudas Mitzvah will take place at the large Beis Midrash, and tomorrow the Rebbe will go up to the grave at the mausoleum of the Viznitz Rebbes in Bnei Brak.
