At the grave of former defense minister Moshe Dayan, in Nahalal, this morning (Tuesday), the day of his 31st death anniversary, graffiti was sprayed, "Minister of default, in the name of the fallen" probably a hint of criticism against him during the Yom Kippur War. In addition to the inscription, red dots were sprayed – to symbolize blood.
Migdal Haemek Police estimates that the address was sprayed in the last few hours, since they toured there yesterday and did not notice anything unusual.
Station commander, Chief Superintendent Menny Benjamin, said: "The teams recorded the address and the investigation is at the beginning. All leads are open and we suspect that the writing is authentic and written by people injured during the war. The inscription was painted in proper Hebrew, with no spelling mistakes."
"Unit members for Commemorating Soldiers and Families Memorial Division are now make their way to the cemetery to repair the damage," The Defense Ministry said in response, "The Defense Ministry intends to file a complaint with the police."
The town secretary erased the inscription following the vandalism attack. "A red line has been crossed here," the secretary said.
