Are kosher cellphones bearing fake stamps, on the market?

Haredi cities' bulletin boards have been covered since Friday with huge posters from the 'Rabbonim's Committee for Communication, in which the Commission warns against a serious loophole: Marketing of mobile devices which are presented as "kosher".

The ad reads, under the heading 'Stern warning' that recently cellular phones with a kosher line, have been forged as if they are 'approved' for use when the device itself is breached, and it supports a Sim card with a non-kosher number.

"Those resellers and shop owners who are counterfeiters, are untrustworthy personalities, and some went further and forged the stamp 'Approved', and parents and educators have already complained to us about the stumbling blocks."

The letter also stated: "for it is a severe forge and there is no heter to purchase it, and whoever markets it is a "Poretz Geder" and undermines the regulation of the generation, and whoever buys from them is assisting transgressors."

The committee members end with threat: "We are taking legal procedures and publications to announce publicly the names of the dealers".

Behadrey Haredim learned that in those stores one can also purchase iPhones with a kosher 'Sim', including the 'Watts Up' software.
