Shimon Peres on the late Berke Wolf: "Sanctified G-d's name"

Today (Tues.) family members and many friends of the Hasidic activist
Harav Sholom Duber (Ber'ke) Wolf z"l - the man who served as Chabad spokesman for decades, and died in his prime and at the height of his public activity, are marking 12 years since his death, on the 30th of Tishrei .

Some of the life story and work of Berke z"l, which are forever engraved in the golden pages of the Chabad Hasidus in Israel, were now documented in a book published in his memory: "Peacemaker - a life of sanctification of the name Lubavitch."

In a recent meeting, Berke's son, the activist Zalman Wolf, gave President Shimon Peres the book 'Peacemaker'.

In the book 'Peacemaker', in the chapter documenting the work of Berke, the spokesman for Chabad, are some photos from the President's second visit to the Lubavitcher Rebbe ztk"l in the days close to the 10th of Shvat 5730, when Berke z"l was among the Peres' hosts in the Chabbad Hassidus.

The President was very moved to receive the book, looked at length at the photos documenting the visit, and reminisced excitedly about the historic meeting at the Rebbe.

The President further added that he knew Berke for decades in his public work for the Chabad movement and its institutions. "Berke had a special grace and countenance of his own, he did his job with an unequalled modesty and simplicity, while radiating true love of Israel – an independent love.

"The Shmurah Matzah he handed out for decades, was not only on the tables of the public figures and elected representatives, but also on the tables of all who helped them. They were all treated by him with attention, and thus he sanctified the name of Heaven.

"I doubt if Chabad know of his tremendous contribution to the Chabad movement and the Rebbe of blessed memory, who did his mission faithfully with wonderful devotion, to bring the beautiful messages of the movement and represent Chabad and its ideas with grandeur and dignity."
